MICHELE HUNTER
Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist

Michele Hunter is a psychology board-certified Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist. Her practice is grounded in a neurodiversity-affirming approach that emphasizes strengths, respects individual differences, and promotes inclusive care. Michele has worked with a number of companies and agencies and she brings compassion, experience and understanding to her role.

Michele holds a Master in Clinical Psychology, with advanced training at the University of Queensland in neuropsychological assessment, trauma-informed care, and inclusive mental health. She works with individuals, families, and health professionals to deliver clear, compassionate, and evidence-based assessments, that support access to appropriate supports.

Fee Structure – 

  1. ADHD psychometric testing (Includes WAIS and specific tests of attention etc. )          $1500 
  2. ASD psychometric assessment (MIGDAS etc.) including functional assessment for Level         $1500
  3. Comprehensive diagnostic and functional assessment (for ADHD, ASD, ABI, IQ issues etc)      $2950
  4. NDIS funding report after item 1 or 2 or 3  is done by Michele         $700 
  5. Functional assessment and funding support report for NDIS for patients diagnosed by our Psychiatrist          $1500
  6. NDIS Plan reviews funded by NDIS plan at NDIS rate. Please ask your NDIS co-ordinator to email us

Michele does all kinds of neuropsychological testing including Post-Stroke conditions, ABI, Learning Disorders, IQ, Dyscalculia/Acalculia etc. Cost for these depends on type and complexity. Please email us to enquire.

CYNTHIA DUNN
Psychologist and EMDR Therapist

I am a registered psychologist and certified EMDRAA therapist based in Cairns, Queensland. With over 15 years of experience across the university, community, and public health sectors, I provide safe, trauma-informed support tailored to help you process past experiences and achieve your personal goals.

How I Can Help

I provide evidence-based care for individuals navigating complex and developmental trauma, PTSD, and other challenging mental health concerns, including:

Tailored Therapy & Modalities

I don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. In addition to specialising in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), I integrate a variety of evidence-based therapies to suit your unique needs, including:

  • EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
  • IFS: Internal Family Systems therapy
  • DBT & CBT: Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • ACT: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • MI: Motivational Interviewing
  • Mindfulness & Meditation: Mindfulness and meditation practices

Fee structure – 

  • Individual Therapy (Telehealth or Face-to-Face)
    • Initial Appointment: $240
    • Ongoing Appointments: $230 per session
    • After Hours Appointments: Additional $10 surcharge (from March 2026)
  • Couples Counselling
    • Initial Appointment: $260
    • Follow-Up Appointments: $250 per session
  • Reduced Fee Telehealth Option
    • $180 per session
    • Available following discussion with Cynthia and receipt of a valid Mental Health Care Plan.
  • Pre-Sentence, Family & Capacity Reports
    • $300 per hour (subject to complexity)
    • 50% payment required prior to commencement
    • Legal Aid video conferencing available for correctional psychological interviews
  • Short Reports, Psychological Reports, Cognitive Assessments, ADHD Assessments, Case Notes & Support Letters
    • $300 per hour

Medicare Rebates (with Mental Health Care Plan)

Under the Australian Government’s Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative, Medicare rebates are available for treatment provided by registered psychologists.

  • Eligible clients may access rebates for up to 10 counselling sessions per calendar year.
  • Current Medicare rebate: $98.95 per session.
  • A referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician is required.

Private Health Insurance

Cynthia is registered with major private health insurers and offers HICAPS facilities where available, allowing eligible clients to process rebates immediately following payment.

Alternatively, a receipt can be provided for clients to submit claims directly to their health insurer.

WorkCover, Victims Assist, NDIS & DVA

Cynthia is an approved provider for:

  • WorkCover Queensland
  • NDIS
  • Victims Assist Queensland
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)

Reduced Fee Option

Cynthia no longer offers Medicare Bulk Billing.

A limited Reduced Fee Option may be available for clients experiencing financial hardship. Eligibility must be discussed with Cynthia during the first two assessment sessions (charged at the standard fee). Availability is limited and waiting periods may apply.

Cancellation Policy

Appointment times are reserved exclusively for you. To ensure appointments can be offered to other clients when required, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • A minimum of 48 hours’ noticeis required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
  • Notice should be provided upon receipt of your SMS reminder.
  • Failure to provide sufficient notice may result in the full session fee being charged.
  • Clients who do not respond to SMS appointment reminders cannot be guaranteed that their appointment time will remain available.

We understand that sometimes you may be unable to keep an appointment because of sudden illness or an unexpected personal emergency. If this happens to you, please contact us as soon as possible to explain the situation. Reasonable circumstances will not incur cancellation fees.

Privacy Notice: Cynthia will not release case notes to any third party unless required by law. Clients may request a review, summary, or report at the applicable fee, subject to the necessary permissions and consent requirements.
